On Friday, President Donald Trump signed an outrageous and controversial executive order that banned immigrants from seven Muslim nations from entering the United States, including Syria, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen for three months.
According to reports on social media, even immigrants who already have a green card to live in the US are having trouble entering America if their passport is from one of these seven countries.
As well as banning immigrants, Trump has also banned all refugees from entering the US for the next four months, with refugees from Syria banned “indefinitely”.
Now outraged people across the globe have been protesting Trump’s order, with many US citizens flocking to international airports to show their support for immigrants and refugees and millions of people also taking to social media to voice their disdain – including many celebrities.
One of the celebrities leading the backlash is Kim Kardashian, who last night tweeted the statistics of the number of Americans who have been killed by Islamic immigrants compared to other means – including gun violence.
The graph, named ‘Number of Americans killed annually by:’ shows that on average just two people had been killed by “Islamic jihadist immigrants”, a further 5 by “Far right-wing terrorists” and 9 by “All Islamic Jihadist terrorists [including US citizens]”.
Meanwhile, 21 people had been killed by armed toddlers, 69 by lawnmowers and a huge 11,737 by being shot by another American.
Kim didn’t further comment on the chart, but she has always been incredibly vocal about her anti-gun views, lobbying for the weapons to be banned years before she was held at gunpoint in her Paris hotel room last year.
Kim’s husband, Kanye West, previously claimed that he supported Donald Trump and would have voted for him in the Presidential election last year, however, he has not yet commented on the so-called ‘Muslim ban’.
As well as Kim, stars such as Judd Apatow, Ashton Irwin, Mia Farrow, Michael Moore, John Green, Pink, and Maggie Gyllenhaal have all taken to social media to voice their outrage at Trump’s rule, with others – including Catfish hosts Nev Schulman and Max Joseph and actress Chloe Grace Moretz – attending protests at their local airports.
